S: Sternal, not using legs
O: No feces in cage but also did not feel any to express. Caught for meds, dropped 20g chopped rat/venison
Trimethoprim-Sulfamethoxazole: 0.34 cc (48 mg/ml) PO
Gabapentin: 0.04 cc (100 mg/ml compounded) PO
Meloxicam: 0.13 cc (1.5 mg/ml compounded) PO

A: More alert, clacked in hand and keeping eyes open

S: Lying sternal in box.

O: Began exam and noted bruising/swelling over L wrist. Gave 0.08 cc torb IM. Performed full physical exam and took radiographs. Expressed a large amount of feces/urates and fluid. Gave 20 cc warmed LRS in R leg inguinal area. Gave 0.14 cc meloxicam PO and 0.04 cc gabapentin PO.

Head/mouth/beak: Scabbed/thickened skin along edges of eyelids OU from buffalo gnats.
Ears: Scabbing on inside of ear flaps from buffalo gnats.
Eyes: DNE
Wings: Bruising/swelling over L carpus
Legs: leg paresis/paralysis- no use and no deep pain response in either leg. Very, very small muscle reflex during deep pain test
Feet: See "legs"
Body: Abdomen very full
Feather condition: Majority of feathers were previously wet and had dried and are still not fluffed out. Sticky substance of feathers- possibly tree sap
Ectoparasites: buffalo gnats
Radiographic findings: Possible swelling/compression fx in spine. No obvious fracture in L wing/carpus identified

A: Pt presented after sustaining trauma during a recent tornado. Pt has paralysis of the legs and is unable to defecate on their own. Prognosis is very guarded considering the bird does not have a deep pain response in the legs/feet. These next couple days will be crucial.

P: 5/21- fecal, blood, check eyes
5/22- vet check
Rx- meloxicam, TMS, gaba
Tx- monitor L carpus, monitor scabbing on eyelids and in ears, monitor use of legs/feet, clean vent/evacuate BID
